Long gone are my days of healthy-eating but every now and then, the urge comes back when I come across a colorful bowl of overnights oats which looks divine. It is in fact oh-so-simple to make; you just mix a few ingredients together and leave the concoction overnight in the fridge. Even though it is that easy, stopping by at a café seems like the preferred choice for people on the go.
Where is such a café, you may ask. Interestingly enough, I recently came across a cute little establishment called Hangar Café which serves overnight oats. After seeing some alluring photos on their Instagram page, I decided to check it out.
I stopped by for brunch on the off-chance that they serve overnights oats at 2 PM – luckily they did. Upon recommendation, I ordered the “Mixed Fruits & Nuts” and the “Mixed Berries & Nuts.” The service was exceptionally friendly, and I was told that the oats are made without any added sugar or preservatives; just milk, yogurt and honey.
The “Mixed Fruits & Nuts” packed in all the sunshine of yellow raisins and bananas, along with kiwis, grapes, apples and nuts. It tasted wonderful and consisted of all the mighty nutrients like iron, fiber and carbohydrates.
As for the “Mixed Berries & Nuts”, it was instant-love for me. It definitely lived up to its striking presentation and had a sweet and sour taste as it was half oats, half mixed berry smoothie. There were strawberries, raspberries and cranberries. Nuts were sprinkled on top of this as well which gave it a nutty aftertaste.
Although oats is more or less an acquired taste, when left overnight, it definitely tastes better. For those who are looking to try something new or just a simple but delicious breakfast, Hangar Café is a great choice. The overnight oats bowls will leave you feeling full for a good while and might make you want to go back for more.
