“Into the Blue”

Sun-drenched decks, clearest of blue waters and the gentle sound of waves lapping – it may seem like your average restaurant by the sea but Blue Terrace Restaurant in Kaafu Huraa is anything but!

To begin our feast, my colleague and I ordered some house-special mocktails which were recommended. While the Blue Lagoon was made with sweet and sour syrup, curacao blue and sprite, the Terrace Sunset consisted of grenadine, orange juice and pineapple juice.

As we waited for the food, I had a chat with the chef who explained that they have been in the market for less than a year and that their initial focus was on foreign guests, especially the Chinese. Little did I know that by the time I was done eating, I would already be planning my next visit.

The first thing we tried was the Supreme Hot Pot which consisted of all things heavenly – prawns, calamari, fish, chicken, beef and noodles. It comes with a regular soup base and a spicy one for the brave. I loved that besides the chili sauce, a peanut sauce was available as well which gave everything that special zest!

We had the Deconstructed Shawarma next. You would think that this sounds “lazy” but the presentation was top-notch. The taste was divine and I dug right into the fresh salad.

For the finale, we had the Roasted Chicken with Mushroom Sauce. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the mushroom sauce was flawless, with generous slices of mushroom which I gobbled up. The potato wedges on the side were soft and tasty – my colleague could not stop raving about it.

In addition to the exquisite dishes they have to offer, they are also open to holding events such as birthday parties and weddings. I was already planning a party in my head.

If I am lucky enough to visit Huraa anytime again soon, I will definitely pop in to check out the rest of their menu.
